Leigh Woods – September 2025

Recent rain after a long dry spell brought a noticeable flush of fungi, with the first specimens spotted almost immediately in the car park. The group covered a relatively small area, moving through mixed woodland with both broadleaf and conifer, as well as sections of felled trees and a cleared hillside. A good range of species was recorded throughout, with particularly large numbers in some areas. The route included a stream crossing and a pond before looping back along the main track. Despite only exploring a limited section, the variety found suggests the site would reward a longer visit later in the season.
